SocialBooker allows for any hotel using any Central Reservations System (CRS), Internet Booking Engine (IBE), or Property Management System (PMS) to harness the power of Facebook’s Social Graph.
Appnostic, a leading social media and travel technology provider, is introducing the first fully integrated Facebook hotel reservations booking app; SocialBooker. SocialBooker allows for any hotel using any Central Reservations System (CRS), Internet Booking Engine (IBE), or Property Management System (PMS) to harness the power of Facebook’s Social Graph. Appnostic’s SocialBooker provides true social commerce, personalizing the hotel booking experience, while providing travelers a better way to socially interact and book a hotel.
SocialBooker is the hotel industry’s first reservation platform specifically optimized for Facebook’s Social Graph. The look and feel can be easily customized to complement a hotel’s existing branding and CRS connectivity. SocialBooker enables the hotel to harness the viral capabilities inside the Facebook network to maximize sales, build customer loyalty, and deliver improved customer service.
According to Appnostic CEO Brian Dass, “SocialBooker is a Facebook app that delivers a completely integrated booking solution, from room availability through payment transaction, all from within the Facebook environment. Furthermore, hotels can customize their unique booking paths to deliver a fully branded, immersive, and socially connected room-booking experience,” he explained
“We are very excited to have jointly launched a private label version of SocialBooker with the Roger Smith Hotel, a New York based hotel known for their proactive approach to Social Media.” Dass explained. Furthermore as consumer adoption for F-commerce continues to grow at a rapid pace, more and more hotel bookings will be conducted through Facebook. “Beginning with the Roger Smith Hotel, Appnostic is helping the hotel industry prepare for the social commerce revolution that is already having an impact on consumer travel.
John Birdsong, Roger Smith Hotel New Media Director says, “Customers are increasingly looking to engage with the hotel via Facebook. Each month over 500 million people on Facebook use an app or experience the Facebook social plugin on other websites. It’s becoming the must-have marketing platform for hotel managers. SocialBooker brings the first complete booking app solution to our Fan Page, and allows the Roger Smith Hotel to monetize our fan base, while opening up an entirely new sales channel.”
By becoming part of the Facebook eco-system, hotel property operators are able to access user profile data and gain insights through Facebook’s internal analytics. This experience is fully personalized including ‘Friend Recommendations, Wall posts, and “Like” button integration, all leveraging Facebook’s newsfeed technology to virally spread your special offers, promotions and packages.
Jeff Thomas, Appnostic’s EVP, Business Development stated that many hotels have expressed a strong interest in adopting the SocialBooker app. “We have active discussions underway with a large number of hotels and groups in North America and in Europe on utilizing SocialBooker as their preferred social media distribution platform.” Thomas continued, “These hotels recognize the importance of this valuable new distribution channel and understand that early adoption is crucial in gaining a competitive advantage on Facebook while defining a standard for social revenue management and distribution.”

LOBBY SERIES #19: FAR AWAY, SO CLOSE (1.31.11-4.30.11)

LOBBY SERIES #19: FAR AWAY, SO CLOSE
INSTALLATION BY DEBORAH WASSERMAN
JANUARY 31-APRIL 30 2011
Roger Smith Arts is thrilled to present Lobby Series #19: Far Away, So Close, by Deborah Wasserman, an exploration into how travel forces us to look at our relationships with time, process, narrative, language and linearity.
The show will consist of 500 hundred paintings arranged in a loose linear flow, creating a progressive swell of abstraction across the walls of the circular lobby at The Roger Smith Hotel. When considered collectively the pieces shape a narrative, but when looked at individually that narrative breaks down into a series of pixel like units.
Wasserman merges distinct aesthetic languages (Abstraction, Figuration, Pop Art, and Graphic Design) into a cohesive visual proposition. These juxtapositions create a mystifying story that almost exists in the space between these paintings. She touches upon her multifaceted cultural experience as well as the binary opposition inherent in the language of travel – here and there, coming and going, arrivals and departures.
Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and raised in Israel, Deborah Wasserman is currently living and working in Queens, NY. She is a graduate of the California Institute of the Arts and the Whitney Museum Independent Study Program. Deborah Wasserman has received grants from the Experimental Television Center, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Aljira Center for the Arts and the America-Israel cultural foundation. Her work has been exhibited in the USA, Brazil, the Netherlands, Germany and Israel, including The Bronx Museum of the Arts, The Tel Aviv Museum of the Arts, The World Wide Video Festival, White Columns, Gale Gates Gallery, GenArt and A.I.R gallery.
Roger Smith Arts is a multi-disciplinary arts-production company providing cultural entertainment as a way to promote dialogue within and between the leading disciplines of the New York and global art worlds. What do The W, The Empire, and The Roger Smith Hotel have in common?
Posted on 12. Feb, 2011 by Birdsong in Events, Hotel

They are all hotels that offer their own fashion events.
Hotels in New York City have long offered after-parties during fashion week. But this season, the trend extends beyond inviting well-paid international DJs to spin for the fashion set when the shows are over. Hotels are increasingly taking their marketing a step further by pairing up with designers and fashion purveyors to host their own shows and events.
Beauty stat a beauty web site, and the Roger Smith Hotel, held four daily contests this month that offered a stay in a suite for the first four days of Fashion Week. BeautyStat.com visitors entered the contest by leaving a comment about why they should win. The suites housing the four winners will be furnished with a survival kit filled with beauty and spa products, produced with fashionistas in mind.
Already we have received two comments on the New York Times Article showing customer appreciation for their stay at the Roger Smith Hotel. It is been great brand exposure for Repêchage, great circulation of beauty stat and great exposure for the Roger Smith Hotel. It has been a pleasure.

Curry: The Spicy Story of the World’s Most Popular Dish
Speaker: Colleen Sen
Description: Although curry had its origins on the Indian Subcontinent (where, ironically, the word was not widely used until recently), it has become global food par excellence. Its many incarnations include the elegant, curries of Thailand; the exuberant curry/rotis of the Caribbean; kari/raisu, Japan’s favorite comfort food; South African bunny chow; Indonesian gulais and rendang; British pub food and balti cuisine; Norwegian curried herring on toast; German currywurst; even Punjabi-Mexican-California pizza. Colleen Taylor Sen will discuss the origins of this popular dish (while debunking some myths about Indian food), explain how and why it spread so far and wide, and speculate on the reasons for its continuing popularity.
Speaker’s bio: Chicago-based food historian Colleen Taylor Sen writes about the cuisine of the Indian Subcontinent. She is the author of the books Food Culture in India (2004); Curry: A Global History (2009); and Pakoras, Paneer, Pappadums: A Guide to Indian Restaurant Menus (2010). Her articles on travel, food and restaurants have appeared in Travel and Leisure, Food Arts, Chicago Sun Times, Chicago Tribune, Toronto Globe and Mail, and the proceedings of the Oxford Food Symposia. She is currently writing a history of Indian food.
Ek’s Adventures in Thailand

by Ek Wongleecharoen, from Thailand
This is my 9 day trip to the north of Thailand with my family. I covered close to 4,000 kilometers in 9 days. This trip opened my eyes about Thailand. I got to discover many new places and to experience many new things. These videos are only a fraction of my experiences. Come to The Roger Smith Hotel and I will tell you in person.

This is the journal of my trip from September 2 to 22, 2010. I went to Bangkok to see some of the hotel friends of The Roger Smith.
Then I traveled to Tokyo, Kyoto, Yokohama, and Osaka to meet some of the travel agents and introduced Mai as part of the team.
Below are some of the movies that I took along this trip.
Hats Off To Our Friends (Red Sox Hats That Is)
Posted on 21. Feb, 2010 by BrianSimpson in Community, Hotel
Back in January Adam Wallace and I (Brian Simpson) had the chance to speak at Jeff Pulvers #140Conf Meet-Up in Cambridge, MA. While we were there we were invited, via Twitter, by The Colonnade Hotel (@Colonnade) to come have lunch and talk ‘social media’. We met with Chris, Nicole and Katie at Brassarie Jo’s inside the Colonnade. A couple of weeks later Katie was in NYC for business and stopped by to say hello and visit The Roger Smith. This is how connections and friendships evolve. Last week I decided I needed a new Red Sox hat, and in my opinion, there is only one place to buy one, Yawkey Way – outside of Fenway Park. I spent the weekend in Boston and enjoyed amazing hospitality at The Colonnade. As a resident of Boston for thirteen years The Colonnade was always my popular Summer hang-out due to their great rooftop pool! Being able to actually stay there was indeed a treat. I even ran into a couple people I knew that now work there. Because of their involvement and commitment to social networking I have a new Boston ‘home’. If you are ever in the Boston area or live near Boston I suggest you go by for a room, a bite to eat or a drink by the pool (Summer only). You will not be disappointed.
Roger Smith in Madrid: Cornell GMP Dinner
Posted on 30. Jan, 2010 by AdamWallace in Community, Events
Hi everyone, this is Ek Wongleecharoen from the Roger Smith Hotel. This time, I got back from FITUR in Madrid, where I joined members of the Cornell General Managers Program from the class of 2004, 2008, and 2009. It was wonderful to be able to reach out to the other members of Cornell GMP. There is nothing better than extending our circle. When people get together once in a while, good always happens.
We are here to share our experiences, our thoughts, and our friendship. Sky is the limit. If any of you are coming to New York City, please come and say hello to me at the Roger Smith Hotel. My door is always open and I will always have time for my friends.
