We are happy to announce that the Roger Smith is using the hottest social media network of 2012. Yes, we are on Pinterest!

We will be sharing all the great things related with travel, art, food, Henry, fashion, beauty and more! As you know, Roger Smith is not a regular hotel. There is always something new and unusual popping up, from a Popsicle give away on the street to a dog fashion show.

When it comes to planning your trip to NY, our Pinterest page can help you by recommending restaurants, events, places to visit, stores and art exhibitions in the city. We want to be your New York city guide!

We have created a board for all the Roger Smith fans called @ the Roger Smith Hotel where you can pin any picture that reminds you of the hotel. It can be a picture of your holidays, our neighborhood, our art exhibitions or just something that connects you with us! That’s right, Roger Smith is on Google Plus! @RShotel #Rogersrooms Giveaway

Last week marks a turning point in our social media engagements as we began our community initiative on Google Plus. What better way to jump into the growing platform than under the guidance of marketing and blogging expert Chris Brogan. On Wednesday January 4th, 2012 Chris met with our team and talked with us about Google Plus for business. We have been lucky to have Chris be a brand ambassador over the years and are thrilled to be able to engage with him about such a fresh topic! We are currently building our presence on the platform and will be launching new collaborations with Chris in 2012.

If you want to know more about “Google Plus for Business” you should read Chris’ book and engage in the conversation.

As part of our #Rogersrooms initiative, I will be giving away a 2 night stay at the Roger Smith to be used in January as part of this blog post. To win the #Rogersroom contest, please tell us your favorite feature or fact about the Google plus platform and why you think it is interesting. The most unique, cleaver, useful, or original feature presented will win the contest! If you present a case study of who is innovating with in the platform, that could help you stand out as well! This is the story of how Roger Smith is become more then just a hotel in New York. There are many hotels in New York and we are not the biggest, the newest or the fanciest. Our rooms are large in comparison to other hotels yet they have an old-world charm.

A Great Start to 2012! @RSHotel is what’s happening! @Chrisbrogan & Google+ @Harlanmack #Studio501 Popup Shop!

I’d like to share with you some highlights from our first week of the New Year @RSHotel. There’s much to look forward to! On January 4th we met with Chris Brogan to talk about Google + for business! His book is a complete Business Guide to Google+, Today’s Hottest New Social Network!

On January 5th we celebrated the work of sculptor Harlan Mack at our first artist dinner for the 125 Window Gallery in the starlight ballroom.

The third highlight of the week and major development of the year is the acquisition of a new space currently known as Studio 501 located between the RS Pop shop and the Lab Gallery. This space will activate new and exciting brand collaborations in 2012. Stay tuned for more details!

We had the Power of Foursquare party the other night, which was a great success. We had a hotdog special and a beer special for those who checked in. It was great to be able to connect and talk with Carmine Gallo who wrote “The Power of Foursquare” and engage with him during his stay in the city. He is building an understanding of how people can best capitalize on the new communication tools that are changing our professional landscape. Driving to the Webby’s in a Ford Focus – Internet Week NY 2011 #IWNYffh

What better way to get the Webby’s during Internet Week than in a Ford Focus.

On Monday, June 13, 2011 the winner of the Ford Focus QR Code competition, Georgi Georgiev was chauffeured to the Webby’s in a Ford Focus, from the Roger Smith Hotel at 47th and Lexington.

Internet Week as a conference was quite corporate. Large businesses launched their social media objectives and new campaigns.

Of course looking to get involved with what was happening, I participated in the Ford Focus QRcode hunt. Initiated by Gregory Littley and The International Office, the campaign brought together a couple of social media moguls to help spread the word about the 2011 Ford Focus. Surrounding a QRcode hunt at the Internet Week headquarters each day I would take some pictures and log my activity.

“While I was in NYC last week for the #140conf, I stayed at the Roger Smith, the “social media” hotel.
The Roger Smith did a number of things well, from leaving me a few Vitamin Waters and a personalized note in my room, to quietly upgrading me from double beds to a king.
But what really stood out? Well of course it was the free bacon Foursquare special.

Kudos Roger Smith, you’ve won me over. I used to stay at the Park Central (a very nice hotel BTW) but you, Roger Smith have won my heart with appreciation for my industry, personal care and attention and of course…

Internet Week 2011 – Ford Focus QR code Hunt #IWNYffh

So I am involved with this QR code Hunt brought to you by Ford and “The International Office” as part of the Ford Focus outreach during Internet week and I wanted to keep you all in the loop as to what is happening.

You may need to catch up but I recommend that you play the game. You have to register here and take a picture of these QR codes to play the game. If you have been participating up to this point you will have been at the Metropolitan Pavilion Internet Week HQ and will have taken these pictures on location. If you collect all five QR codes you have the possibility of winning two tickets to the Webby’s and a stay at the Roger Smith Hotel on June 13, 2011. Ford will be providing transportation to the event.

Lucky for you I am willing to share my images with you so that you can participate even if you are not here for Internet week New York, or can’t make it to the Internet Week HQ each day. So sign up and make it happen!
