In the week leading up to Christmas, Roger Smith will be putting on his Santa hat and giving away a series of #Rogersrooms. It’s a brilliant gift idea to give a 2 night stay at New York’s Roger Smith Hotel. The rules to win are as follows. In the comments section of this blog, tell us who deserves the gift of New York and why. Once you have posted your comment on the blog you must also post “Give the gift of New York! @RShotel #SantaContest #rogersrooms http://bit.ly/u0wWAt” to your twitter or to our facebook profile.
We will be choosing 2 winners on Friday December 23th, just in time for Christmas.
In the wake of Santa Con, we are also giving away 1 room to the best Santa Costume Picture Submitted to twitter with “Give me my #Rogersroom @RShotel #Santacontest” in the body of the tweet.
Thanks ahead of time for participating. Happy Holidays

I’d like to nominate Paul Anater ofu00a0http://www.kitchenandresidentialdesign.com/ because he has had a very rough year, especially the past couple of weeks. And he loves New York more than any other city in the entire world.u00a0http://www.kitchenandresidentialdesign.com/2011/12/i-love-new-york-so-much-it-hurts.html
I’d like to nominate Hugo Liu (@dochugo), because he is constantly traveling back and forth from Boston and New York, and he always spends a lot of time looking for accommodations. I’d love to save him some time (one of the most precious things of all) for the holidays, while also giving him the gift of New York, the most wonderful city of all!
My darling loves visiting New York City and shenwould thoroughly enjoy a 2-night stay at the boutique Roger Smith Hotel.u00a0 She is a wonderful person who works verynhard at her full-time job and cooks wonderfully delicious and creative mealsnworthy of a 5-star restaurant!u00a0 Thisnprize would be such a special treat for her!u00a0nHappy Holidays!

For a Paris inhabitant like me, New-York is the only other town where I would imagine to live. I discovered NYC last year with my darling @florencemarin:twitteru00a0 and it was like in our dreams: awesome, fast, huge, … Actually, one of our favorite song is Empire of State by Jay-z and Alicia Keys that we listenned when we fell in love 2 years ago.nI would be very happy to see her enjoying a 2-night stay in such famous hotel

I would give the gift to my fiance (and hope that she brings me along!). She’s been working long hours and yet somehow has made time to also work with me to take care of wedding planning and the stress that can sometimes come along with that. She could use a few nights away from home to relax and be pampered in a famous NYC hotel.u00a0
My sister,u00a0 she is always doing and giving to others-u00a0 she deserves to have a fun trip for herself
Everyone deserves the gift of NYC. It has more of everything and moreu00a0restaurantsu00a0and bars that you could ever go to in a lifetime and never sleeps so you don’t have to worry about closing times because it’s the city that neer sleeps.u00a0
No question, my wife Linda and daughter Lindsey deserve “the gift of New York.” They leave Texas several times each year to spend a few nights in the city, shopping, eating, and Broadway-ing. They’ve never stayed at the Rogers but a little variety is always welcome. They’ll be coming anyway, so why not a free night at the Rogers to make their regular pilgramage that much more special? Merry Christmas to my two favorite ladies.
For those of us born and bred, New York is in our soul and our hearts. It never leaves us, even when we leave it. And while I always love to return to the City that created me, I would like to give the gift to someone who has only has New York dreams and has never inhaled the air of originality, creativity, construction, destruction, love, hate, passion and energy that permeate its foundation and fuel its continuity. Because once New York enters you, it passes on a trail of all who have gone before and who will go long after. My gift? You choose a newbie in my name. Because nothing says the holidays like giving and nothing says special like New York.u00a0
Here’s the thing. I’ve grown up thinking, no believing in my bones, that Chicago is the best city in the world. nnYes, our politicians are corruptu00a0 and 4 of our recent governors have spent time in the slammer, but so what?nnWe have all the greatness of New York but with less traffic. Now I’m open to changing my fly-over ways, but need to find a pathway to enlightenment.nnUntil that time comes, I’ll be here convinced that under my wrist is the pulse and under my ribs is the heart of the people. (apologies to Carl Sandburg)
Ahem. My twelve-year-old daughter does. Her dad and I divorced this past year, and since we now live in a different state, she doesn’t get to see him as much as any of us would like. But what’s also missing is her time with her other family – her dad’s parents, brothers, sisters, their kids. They all live in New York. She hasn’t seen them in ages, and since my mother died in ’07, her grandmama in Stony Brook is the only one she’s got left. I can’t afford to take her, though. This would make it possible!
My husband definitely deserves a gift of NYC.u00a0 He got laid off a year and a half ago and he’s been working like crazy on freelance gigs.u00a0 So much so he’s probably averaging less than 48 hours of sleep most WEEKS!u00a0 I don’t think this Cali boy has been to NYC since he was a roadie in the 80′s (and we all know that means he basically saw and experienced very little of all that the city has to offer).
My boyfriend Rivers Mitchell deserves – and would love – the gift of New York. It’s been a rough year for both of us – one I couldn’t have survived without him, and I have no way of truly showing my appreciation. Early early in our relationship, both of my sons ended up with serious health issues that nearly killed them – Rivers barely knew us then, yet he was by my side through all of it and as I continue to worry months later. He’s a truly amazing man.u00a0nnRivers is American-born, yet he has never seen America’s premier city – or had the opportunity to do much travel of any kind. Living and loving now in Canada, he’s a devoted, supportive and involved dad; an avid community builder; and the most amazing boyfriend. He has big dreams to travel ‘someday’ when his kids are older … I’d love for him to learn that he can live his dreams AND be a great dad at the same time.u00a0nnSend Rivers to New York – it could change the way he sees life.u00a0
I’d like to nominate my wife. Since December 2010, she’s been the primary bread winner, working every day to keep our family afloat while I look for work, or look for clients.u00a0nnIt’s been a hard year for her, full of uncertainty and stress, and she deserves the gift of NYC.
Morris & Linda Wooten are the most unselfish and generous people I know. They listen and don’t judge. They tell you what you need to know and not just what you want to hear. They continually sacrifice to help others without a second thought. Many, many, many have benefited and prospered because of this couple. The Wootens are an inspiration and a blessing to know. They deserve a gift of New York.
Due to travel distance, travel time, work schedules, and cost, my love has not been able to spend the holidays with family in 1o years – and will not be able to this year. u00a0Staying 2 nights in New York City at Roger Smith Hotel during the holiday season would be so wonderful! u00a0RS would be our base to explore Manhattan – Rockefeller Center, Times Square, holiday store window displays – enjoy great NYC dining and so much more!
My Mom really deserves to win this! Her and my Dad have run into some finacial difficulties over the last few years so seeing my little brother, who lives in NYC, has become more difficult. She would be able to visit him and that would make so many people in my famiy very happy. Thank you for the consideration!
Like many others, I nominate my wife. She has never been to NY and my work trips do not exactly allow for much time for me to tour the city with her. We have always talking about going around XMAS time to see the tree, but with two kids under 4, making the trip has not been doable. Of course I would hope she would take me, but for a woman that stays with the two kids each day I think a trip with a friend would be more appropriate and allow me to have a weekend to bond with the kids.
My baby girl, she is discouvering the world around and there isn’t a better place to see aroundnnnnn
Not to sound selfish, but I think I deserve a chance to stay here. u00a0I walk by here all the time and have always been curious as to what it would be like to stay here. u00a0It would be the perfect “staycation” spot- great location!
