THE PANMAN REPORT; SPAIN WINS THE WORLD CUP!

The Panman Report:  During my last trip to Spain I learned of the oracle octopus, Pulpo Paul. Apparently a german octopus predicted the victors of every game in the German bracket and eventually predicated Spain to beat Holland in the finals. It was mayhem in Spain as this was their first ever World Cup victory.

The owner of Pulpo Paul would not sell his golden goose but would the clairvoyant Octopus to a Spanish citizen with the understanding that his transportation costs would be covered and that they would not prepare “A la plancha”.

What is the strangest Sports tradition that you know of? While in Spain, I purchased Spain World Cup Soccer limited edition Tshirts that I will present to the first five people who share their story in the comments section of this blog.

    Hi!!
I'm a Spanish girl who was at Roger Smith at the beginning of 2009, and had a wonderful time during my staying in The Big Apple, and that I was going to revisit last month but the victory of our National Team in the last World Cup made me impossible to go!!!
The World Cup played In Brazil in 1950 was the best achievement of our national team. In Spain when all the tournaments got started there’s always been very good prospects, and sometimes too good, taking into account our own team. There’s a huge generation, or even two or three, who had never seen our National Team win anything.
This year, as regarding to the World Cup all the country was prepared for the best, due to the fact that two years ago in Germany we could taste our first great victory. But with the lost in the first match against Switzerland all our ghosts come out, and we started to think we weren’t good enough. The Team recovered from the match and started to believe in themselves and then the victories started to arrive.
My friends and I had our ritual, we always went to the same Bar, to see the match and enjoy with our team, always with our Red T-shirts and started to plan what we were going to do if our team won. In Madrid, everybody wanted to celebrate in “Plaza de Colon”, but the local authorities fenced it in. As we had another fountain near the Bar, we decided to celebrate there the victory!!!
But we finished our celebration in the ER room as I broke three toes and the toenail on the big one!! So I had to cancel my revisit to the Big Apple!!
I hope next National Team celebration ends better than this one!!!
