We are very excited to announce that the Roger Smith Hotel is sponsoring the Green Drinks NYC holiday event and is helping them raise money for the Citizen’s Campaign for the Environment’s initiative to protect the oceans.  Please join us in support for this cause by donating and by attending their holiday fund raising event.

Green Drinks NYC “Our Oceans” 2009 Annual Holiday Party

This year, Green Drinks NYC is thrilled to partner with some powerful forces, unifying to generate local attention concerning the pressing need for ocean conservation.  It is our goal is to assemble, enlighten and mobilize our green community regarding the perils of the sea, and to make great strides forward in protecting our oceans and all of their inhabitants.

We are collaborating with a variety of Ocean Conservation groups to take this movement to the next level. Our featured speaker is critically acclaimed Oceanographer, and National Geographic Explorer in Residence, Dr. Sylvia Earle. Dr. Earle was named Time magazine’s first “hero for the planet,” and is the 2009 recipient of the prestigious TED prize. Sylvia will be illuminating the critical issues that face our oceans by sharing her incredible experiences having logged over 7,000 hours underwater.

She will be introduced by Award winning Author and Founder of Blue Ocean Institute, Carl Safina. Locally, we will be featuring Citizens Campaign for the Environment and their extraordinary work in prevention, protection, and preservation of our eastern coasts.
